Oliver Smith & Performance Services have specialised in theatre & performance sound since 1996 including design, sound effects, operation & radio mic management. We have worked in many venues including The Playhouse Harlow, Stevenage Leisure Centre, Harlow Leisure Centre, The Lyceum & Rhodes Centre Bishops Stortford. We often work in collaboration with venue crews or other Sound/AV companies on large events. We also provide small sound systems for charity events & parties and have experience of AV, Lighting & Stage Management.

Oliver was on the Sound Team for 9 years when the Playhouse Harlow produced their own community pantomimes (about 33 performances per year). Oliver covered Sound Operator, SFX Operator & Radio Mic Technician Roles as well as recording the sound effects each year. In 2010 Oliver provided sound effects and was the cover sound operator for Jack & The Beanstalk at the Rhodes Centre, Bishops Stortford.

Oliver has over 15 years experience of providing sound effects for Theatre productions and currently owns a collection of over 5,200 sound effects. Oliver can also purchase effects from the major sound effects libraries. Performance Services hold a ProDub licence so we can legally copy music onto our playback computer or compile a Show CD.

Sound Effect & Music Playback
Performance Services use Sound Cue System running on a laptop to playback music & sound effects for shows. The system allows easy editing of the order of tracks and parameters such as volume and fade times. This makes running shows much simpler as music & effects are triggered with a simple “Go” button.
We also has an extensive music collection and have provided the music for many parties & events over the last 20 years. Music is played from a laptop using PCDJ Software and we normally carry a spare laptop. Performance Services hold a ProDub licence so we can legally copy music onto our playback computer.
